What did you do this past week?

Most of this week was spent focusing on our semester-long group management project. I met with my group a few times and got some work done on our paper and presentation. I also continued to attend my other classes and hold office hours.

What’s in your way?

Not much is in my way right now, aside from a little bit of senioritis!

What will you do next week?

Next week I’ll focus on the management group project, since our slides are due on Monday, and our presentation to the class is on Thursday. We will probably have several meetings to finalize the slides and rehearse for the presentation. Working with this group has been an amazing experience, so I’m excited about it. I’m hoping to also start the next project for this class if it is released.

If you read it, what did you think of More getters and setters?

I did not read the paper this week.

What was your experience of sequence containers, container adapters, and associative containers?

The lectures on sequence containers, container adapters, and associative containers were pretty interesting, but I’ll definitely need to review them more on my own this weekend. Having the notes and lecture recordings will be really useful for doing this.

What made you happy this week?

I had a picnic with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while. We had fun taking pictures, catching up, and getting boba together. I’m also glad I made time to take a few walks this week, since the weather has been pretty nice.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip-of-the-week is to take the time to design a solution before starting to code immediately. This often saves time and creates fewer bugs in the final product. Additionally, well-designed code is more reusable and easier to maintain, as we have been reading about in the papers. I’ve been trying to do this for the projects in this class instead of jumping into writing code, and it has been immensely helpful.
